Writing a magazine can be an enjoyable and stimulating way for children to involve themselves both in collaborative class work and practising many of the forms of writing required by the NLS.

The class can be split into several groups with each group working on a particular page for the magazine. In each case they should plan as a group what they want to write about in the article, what type of picture (or photo) should accompany it and what information they will need to write it. Then each member of the group can take on a speciality (drawing, writing the article, 'researching' in books selected by the teacher etc).
