1. How long have you been a writer for?
Fifteen years

2. What made you become a writer?
It's the thing I like doing best - next to reading.
Sometimes I enjoy it MORE than reading!
3. What are your top tips for becoming a writer?
Read lots of books and ignore what is going on around
you.
4. How does it feel to know that lots of children
enjoy reading your stories?
Wonderful! Like being given a big chocolate ice-cream
with raspberry sauce. It makes me very happy.
5. What do you like best about writing Story Street?
The money!! No, seriously, I enjoy sending the characters
off on fantastic adventures.

Which Story Street character do you like writing
about most?
I'm very fond of Pip - he makes me laugh.
7. If you could look after any of the Story Street
animals, which would it be and why?
Fatcat. I'm a cat lover (I've got three - Alfie,
Charley and Tilly).

The Secret Room
9. Would you rather have Miss Cherry or Mr Hopkins
as a teacher?
Impossible to choose!

10. Do you prefer writing the fantasy Strange
Street stories, or the 'normal' world stories?
I enjoy the Strange Street stories best. I love
sending children off into fantastic worlds.
11. If you could press the Magic Button, where
would you like the lift to take you?
To an enchanted forest, with witches and wizards
and goblins - as long as the lift took me home
when things got too scary.

The Hobbit

The Wizard of Oz
