About Story Street

The Story Street Authors
Jeremy Strong

I'm Jeremy Strong, and I created the world of Story Street and its characters: Mouse, Jojo, Ben and Sam. I have answered some questions about being a writer and given you some top tips to get you started! If you have any questions about the world of Story Street, please e-mail me!

1. How long have you been a writer for?

I began writing stories when I was 6 and I never stopped!

2. What made you become a writer?

I have to write. It's inside me, wanting to get out. I get fed up when I'm not writing.

3. What are your top tips for becoming a writer?

Listen to what people tell you about your writing. Read good books and try to make your stories as good as theirs. Don't give up trying!

4. How does it feel to know that lots of children enjoy reading your stories?

Brilliant! It makes me feel warm and happy.

5. What do you like best about writing Story Street?

I like thinking about the mad things the gang get up to.

6. Which Story Street character do you like writing about most?

Bad Bert! I've got a big soft spot for bad cats!

7. If you could look after any of the Story Street animals, which would it be and why?

Bad Bert of course, although I'd like him to stay a bit wild. When a wild creature comes to you it makes you feel really good inside.

8. Where would you most like to visit in Story Street?

The Secret Room

9. Would you rather have Miss Cherry or Mr Hopkins as a teacher?

Miss Cherry! She reminds me of my teacher when I was in Year 3/4.

10. What do you imagine the four main characters will do when they grow up?

Mouse will do something unexpected, like, become an adventurer. Jojo will be a teacher. Ben will work with a computer and be a dot-com millionaire. Sam will be a vet, or work with animals in another way, like being a TV documentary maker.

11. Do you prefer writing the funny stories, like Ben gets a Hat, or the dramatic stories like Brave Mouse?

I like the funny stories the most, because I like laughing and making others laugh.

12. If you could press the Magic Button, where would you like the lift to take you?

To the High Seas, where I could be a pirate chief, and boss people about ,and make them walk the plank, and generally be BAD (just for a short time!)

13. What is your favourite children's book?

The House at Pooh Corner and Just So Stories

14. What is your favourite children's film?

Star Wars (and The Railway Children and Indiana Jones ... )
